Vision
FROM HERE envisions a food system where what we grow, produce and create is rooted in the resources, seasons, knowledge and people of the place – while embracing the innovation needed for what comes next.
Connecting the food system
We want to reconnect the parts of the food system that too often operate separately: producers, chefs, culinary professionals, schools, researchers, technology providers and businesses.
Starting in the Nordic countries, FROM HERE will create a practical alliance where these actors meet, experiment and develop new solutions together. The ambition is not simply to promote local food, but to explore what becomes possible when we start with what we have around us.
Local resources. New possibilities.
This means making better use of seasonal and locally available resources, creating shorter and stronger value chains, reducing waste and finding new uses for ingredients and side streams.
But it also means looking ahead: exploring alternative proteins, new ingredients and production methods, fermentation and circular approaches, and the role of automation, robotics and AI in a food sector facing climate change, changing resources and shortages of skilled labour.
From ideas to practice
FROM HERE will turn these ideas into practice through collaboration, experimentation and demonstration. Knowledge and solutions will be shared through a common platform, creating a living Nordic ecosystem rather than another temporary project that disappears when public funding ends.
The Nordic alliance is the starting point – not the final destination
The long-term ambition is to develop a model that can travel. Not by exporting Nordic ingredients, cuisine or answers, but by sharing a way of working that can be adapted to different places.
What works in Finland will not necessarily work in Kenya. What grows in Denmark will not necessarily grow in Japan. The resources, cultures, challenges and opportunities are different.
That is the point.
The question
What do we have here – and what new possibilities can we create from it?
The Nordic countries will be the first place to answer that question together.
